Jason Aldean Is Producing Tyler Farr’s Next Album
Tyler Farr is getting some big help from Jason Aldean on his next studio album. Following a feature on Farr's latest album, Suffer in Peace, Aldean will produce Farr's forthcoming third release.
Farr broke the news to News Channel 5 before his free concert Sunday night (May 15) at Tootsie's Orchid Lounge in Nashville.
"He was pretty hard on me," Farr says of Aldean, who is a mentor. "We’d go from pretty much sunup to sundown every day, and he was very persistent on finding what he wanted out of my voice and what he wanted to capture."
Farr said he has recorded four songs so far with his best friend, who will also be a groomsman in his wedding this October. "We're pretty blunt with each other," he admits. "We have fun with each other."
The "A Guy Walks Into a Bar" singer's concert Sunday night was his return to the stage following vocal surgery earlier this year, which made him cancel a tour with Lee Brice. While Farr admits it was "nerve-wracking" not talking for a few weeks, he was relieved when his voice came back stronger than before.
“Not only did I get back my range I had before, but I got five 1/2 notes higher than I've ever been able to sing,” he says. “These people have never heard my voice after surgery, so they have no idea. I was thinking about messing with them and coming up there and singing like all Journey covers, but we decided not to do that."
Farr will join Brad Paisley on his Life Amplified World Tour beginning May 19 in Sacramento, Calif.
