Warning Issued for Illegal High-Dose THC Products in Minnesota
The Minnesota Department of Health has issued a warning about illegal high-dose THC products being sold in Minnesota. This is according to a news release from the MDH yesterday.
If you're someone who purchases THC edibles the MDH is urging you to make sure to check labels on any products you're considering buying.
The MDH discovered these illegal high-dose edibles because of a campaign they started four months ago "to identify establishments who had been previously selling hemp-derived cannabinoid products". They're also using this campaign to gets those establishments to register with the state in order to continue selling their products.
What Edibles Are Legal in Minnesota?
The edibles that are legal in Minnesota are 5 mg of THC per serving and 50 mg of THC per package.
However, the edibles that are illegally being sold that the Minnesota Department of Health has discovered "may contain hundreds of milligrams of THC" in each serving. Depending on the packaging, that can be thousands of milligrams of THC in a package.
The MDH says in their news release that they found illegal high-dose edibles in 39% of businesses they've inspected across Minnesota. They say that they're working to get those products off the shelves to "provide a safe marketplace for consumers to shop."
If the MDH finds illegal high-dose edibles in a shop they ask the retailer to destroy the product or face up to a $10,000 fine per incident.
