Isanti Wedding Venue Couple Being Sued In A Different Case
It appears that the couple behind the now-closed Isanti wedding venue is dealing with other legal problems. The couple, Wayne and Angela Butt, who ran the Isanti wedding venue Circle B Weddings and Events, is being actively sued by a Cottage Grove couple after it's alleged that the Butt's damaged trees on a neighboring property back in 2022.
According to the County News Review, which serves both Isanti and Chisago Counties:
"The Butts purchased land located at 7404 Lamar Ave S in Cottage Grove for a new business called Lakeside Weddings and Events on August 20, 2021, according to a trial brief, where the trespassing and cutting of trees took place just days later.
The couple was sued on August 4, 2022 after property owners adjacent to the Butts came across 115 damaged trees on their land, according to the complaint, leading to the alteration of topography of the plaintiff’s (Steven and Kathleen Geis) property."
The paper wrote that the plaintiffs were looking for $50,000 for new trees, and another $50,000 to restore the 'topography' of the area that was alleged to have been damaged.
The County News Review also revealed online that Circle B Weddings and Events had their LLC license terminated with the state of Minnesota two months before permanently closing.
"Circle B Ranch Retreat Event Center LLC, what was the official company name, was administratively terminated on Feb 27, 2024, two months prior to informing its customers about the permanent closure. The manager of the company at the time was Brennan Cox.
The termination was due to the limited liability company not filing the annual renewal of the with the state...However, according to the Secretary of State's Office, the Butts opened a LLC under the simpler company name, Circle B Weddings and Events LLC. This was filed Oct. 3, 2022 and under a new manager, Ryan Kaess."
Since the closure announcement, wedding venues across the state are opening their doors and arms to the affected couples.
