A Nebraska surgeon, accused of killing a Sioux Falls woman in a 2023 Omaha car accident, will stand trial in August.

The head-on collision took place on September 1, 2023 on Dodge Street in Omaha near the 62nd Street intersection.

According to police reports, 61-year-old Dr. Mark Carlson's Mercedes Benz was traveling as fast as 106 miles per hour just seconds before it struck a light pole and then a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Anna Bosma.

She was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Carlson spent seven weeks in the hospital and then rehab before his arrest. He’s out on bond before trial.

If convicted, Carlson faces up to 20 years in prison.
