Last September we wrote about the street racing issue in Sioux Falls. Residents were fuming on social media about hearing it every night, sometimes till 3 AM. You can see that story here.

A few weeks after the article, on October 9, Sioux Falls police were called to an area near North Sycamore Avenue near the intersection with East Benson Road and found up to 50 super-charged vehicles with evidence of street racing.

Sioux Falls Police: Arrests Made in High-Stakes Street Racing

A Sioux Falls Police press release on Thursday (February 15) indicated that after a lengthy investigation, arrests have finally been made.

It also indicated that these were not merely street races, but a high stakes dangerous game involving cash to the winners. Although not named, the racing even had a sponsor.

Nine warrants for arrest followed and 8 have been arrested, according to Public Information Officer Sam Clemens. Charges include:

· Drag Racing on a Highway

· Reckless Driving

· Exhibition Driving

· Gambling

· Second Degree Intentional Damage to Property

The Sioux Falls Police Department also named the individuals. Facing these charges are:

Daniel Lee Johnson, a 32-year-old man from Sioux Falls, SD

Jamis Harry Jurgens, a 43-year-old man from Watertown, SD

Jeremy Arthur Kannas, a 32-year-old man from Valley Springs, SD

Cole Dean Meendering, a 26-year-old man from Inwood, IA

Matthew Scott Moen, a 35-year-old man from Harrisburg, SD

Chase Avery Schraeder, a 35-year-old man from Sioux Falls, SD

Nathan Allen Stoops, a 35-year-old man from Sioux Falls, SD

Eric Wayne Taylor, a 35-year-old man from Sioux Falls, SD

2024 Sioux Falls Area Concert Calendar [UPDATED]

2024 is looking to be another awesome year for live music in Sioux Falls.

We'll continue to see the Denny Sanford PREMIERE Center in Sioux Falls hosting big-name music acts.
