
Sioux Falls Lands in America’s Top 10 Least Stressed Cities

According to WalletHub's new 2026 report on the Most & Least Stressed Cities in America, Sioux Falls ranks as the ninth least stressed city in the entire country. Out of the nation's 182 largest cities, Sioux Falls came in at Number 174, meaning only eight cities were found to have lower overall stress levels.

The annual study looked at four major categories that can affect everyday life: work stress, financial stress, family stress, and health & safety stress. Researchers compared dozens of data points, including average work hours, job security, debt levels, divorce rates, crime, and residents' overall health.
Celebrating Sioux Falls' Natural and Economic Appeal
While no city is completely free of stress, Sioux Falls continues to stand out as a place where people appear to enjoy a healthier work-life balance and a strong quality of life.
The ranking probably won't surprise many locals. Sioux Falls has earned national recognition in recent years for its growing economy, low unemployment, outdoor recreation, and family-friendly atmosphere. Whether it's spending an evening at one of the city's parks, biking the trail system, enjoying downtown events, or taking a quick getaway to one of the region's lakes, there are plenty of opportunities to unwind.

Of course, everyone experiences stress differently, but this latest ranking suggests Sioux Falls is doing a lot of things right.
So, the next time you're sitting in a little traffic on Louise Avenue or waiting in line for coffee, just remember - it could be a whole lot more stressful somewhere else.
