
Sioux Falls Grocery Store Trip Turns Dangerous Sunday
One minute you're grocery shopping on a Sunday morning, the next you're being beaten up and having your car stolen.
That's exactly what happened to a Sioux Falls woman on Sunday, (April 6) in central Sioux Falls.
Dakota News Now reports that a 50-year-old Sioux Falls woman was assaulted in the parking lot of a Sunshine Foods Store on the 500 block of South 2nd Avenue around 9:45 AM on Sunday.

The police report says that the victim had just finished shopping and was in the process of putting groceries inside her car when a 20-year-old Sioux Falls resident came up from behind her and started hitting her.
According to Dakota News Now, the suspect hit her in the head several times and then threatened to shoot her as he attempted to steal her vehicle.
The victim was able to free herself from the struggle, but in the process of doing so, the suspect took her car keys and made off with the vehicle.
Police told Dakota News Now that the victim went back inside the grocery store to notify authorities. Once they arrived, police found the victim's car a short time later, a few miles away in the 600 block of South Edward Drive.
The suspect was arrested after a brief foot pursuit with police officers in the vicinity of where the vehicle was recovered.
Police took 20-year-old Peyton Lane LeClaire of Sioux Falls into custody. Lane is being charged with first-degree robbery, aggravated assault, DWI, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, obstruction, resisting arrest, and underage consumption.
Fortunately, the victim didn't sustain any serious injuries resulting from the incident.
