Everyone knows the motto for the Police Department is "To Protect and to Serve", right? Starting this week, we can add "shop" to that mission statement here in Sioux Falls.

The brave men and women within the Sioux Falls Police Department are once again showing what wonderful people they are, by getting into the holiday spirit and helping to make this Christmas season just a little merrier for some less fortunate children throughout the Sioux Empire.

Dakota News Now is reporting that a group of officers from the Sioux Falls PD plan on doing a little Christmas shopping alongside children in need here in Sioux Falls. These kind-hearted cops intend to help these kiddos shop for gifts for themselves, their families, and/or their friends.

This group of Protect and Serve Santas plan on visiting three different stores over the next week assisting children with their Christmas shopping while helping them get a better understanding of the true meaning of the season.

Sioux Falls Finest will be making a list and checking it twice, as they help to show the children of the Sioux Empire what it's like to be NICE at both Sioux Falls Target locations on (December 7) from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. Then again the very next day (December 8) from 5:00 to 6:00 PM at the South Walmart at 7821 South Minnesota Avenue.

The final Christmas shop with a cop experience comes up on Wednesday (December 14) at Fleet Farm from 5:00 to 6:00 PM.

According to Dakota News Now, the children chosen to shop with cops were selected by great organizations like The Banquet, Lutheran Social Services, and Boys & Girls Club through their partnership with the participating stores.
