The people of the Sioux Empire love their burgers, look no further than the results coming in from this year's Downtown Sioux Falls Burger Battle as proof of that.

The 2024 DTSF Burger Battle was a real whopper. According to Dakota News Now, Sioux Falls residents devoured 76,534 burgers from participating downtown Sioux Falls restaurants throughout the month of January.

All that burger-eating had an estimated $2,914,414 economic impact on the city of Sioux Falls. Needless to say, I think the Downtown Burger Battle is here to stay.

DTSF Marketing Director Tenley Schwartz told Dakota News Now, “It’s amazing to see the community embrace Burger Battle each year! It’s become a cultural phenomenon, creating a huge economic boost during a traditionally slow season for restaurants. Burger Battle’s $2.9 million economic impact directly benefits our local restaurants and economy. These restaurant owners and employees are our friends and neighbors. Huge thanks to the hardworking restaurant staff that make this event possible, and to all those who came downtown to try a burger!”

37 different downtown Sioux Falls restaurants made up the 11th Downtown Sioux Falls Burger Battle. All through January, Sioux Falls residents cast their votes on their favorite DTSF burgers based on flavor, patty, toppings, bun, and presentation.

Dakota News Now reports that Crawford's once again came away with the title of downtown Sioux Falls' best burger.

Their burger named "The Gold Standard" was crowned the best of the best.

The Gold Standard is a prime beef patty, paired with jalapeno bacon, Boursin cheese, peppadew jam, crispy onion straws, home-made rosemary ginger pickles, and arugula tossed with spicy vinaigrette served on ciabatta crusted with smoked mozzarella cheese.

That all adds up to a heap of good eating!

Crawford's will set out to defend its title again next January when the DTSF Burger Battle gets underway again.
