Minnesota City Named One Of The Most Bed Bug Infested

This just might make your skin crawl. Last year, Wisconsin made headlines for making the list of the most bed bug infested cities in the country. This time around, Minnesota also made the list and for the very first time. Yikes.

Once again, Orkin has put together a list of the cities in the country that are the most infested with these creepy, crawly creatures. This list features the top fifty cities that are dealing with the same issue and it's all based on the metro areas where Orkin performed the most treatments for bed bugs from December 1st of 2022 to November 30th of last year.

Which Minnesota City Is The Most Bed Bug Infested?

I am afraid I have some good news and some bad news here. The bad news? Minneapolis is the big city to make this list. Minneapolis, and Minnesota as a whole, is new to this list. That is just gross.

The good news is that Minneapolis is far down the list, coming in at number forty-seven. While it is a bummer that we made it onto the list at all in Minnesota, at least we are way down near the bottom so it definitely could be worse.

What About Wisconsin?

Sadly, Milwaukee really can't get a break. Not only did Milwaukee make the list last year but the Wisconsin city is way higher up this time around. This year, Milwaukee is up fifteen spots, coming in at number twenty-five. Better luck next year?

What To Know About Bed Bugs

If you've never seen a bed bug, consider yourself lucky! According to Orkin, they are usually about 3/16 of an inch long and vary in color from red to dark brown. Not only that, but bed bugs are nocturnal and only come out at night. Nope.

The scariest part of all might just be how easily they travel. They cling to items often used for travel like luggage and purses. They do not struggle to move from place to place.

How To Avoid Bed Bugs

While you may not be able to avoid bed bugs in some instances, there are some things you can do to prevent coming into contact with them! Orkin says you should always examine any secondhand furniture you bring into your home and while traveling, check the mattress and box spring of the bed in your room.

Stay safe out there! It should be reiterated one more time that it could always be worse. Chicago came in at number one on this list, with New York coming in second and Philadelphia coming in third. Cleveland, Los Angeles and Detroit also round out the top six.
