Incumbent Loses to Challenger in Mitchell Mayoral Election
MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) — The city of Mitchell is getting new leadership.
Challenger Jerry Toomey defeated incumbent Mayor Ken Tracy in Tuesday's election. The Daily Republic reports that Toomey got 58 percent of the 2,630 votes that were cast. He'll be sworn into office in July.
Toomey lost in a six-way race to Tracy in the 2012 mayoral election. Tracy says he's surprised by Toomey's easy win in this year's election.
