I Took My Family On A Thanksgiving Trip

For many years I have picked Kansas City for a destination for some fun. I love the people there, the restaurants and the attractions.

Why Kansas City? Many reasons I guess. Perhaps the distance by car being around 5 to 6 hours. Just the right drive time for me and all I-29.

I could pretty much live anywhere I want to. And that's why I live in Sioux Falls. I love it here. And that's another reason I like K.C. for visiting, It's the same as Sioux Falls as far as the feel.

I will say that one of the best steakhouses in the world is on the plaza in Kansas City. I am a regular when I'm in town at Ruth's Chris Steak House. Tom Pendegast is the long time general manager and a friend of mine. I highly recommend dining with Tom if you ever get close to it.

We stayed on the Plaza at the Sheraton Suites. Fred DeLaRosa is the general manager there. And Fred took great care of us. I would definitely suggest him for your lodging in Kansas City.

We attended the 83rd annual Christmas lighting ceremony on the traditional Thanksgiving night. Around 280,000 bulbs lit up when they threw the switch after the countdown.
