How Many of These Bad Cell Phone Habits Are You Guilty Of?
At the risk of trying not to sound like Larry David, how's your cell phone etiquette these days?
I was at a rather expensive restaurant here in Sioux Falls over the weekend and witnessed a man talking on his cell phone using the speakerphone option so the entire room could also enjoy his conversation.
By the way, whoever you are, I'm very happy for you that the Packers won on Sunday! You seemed a little nervous about their chances on Saturday night.
Using your speakerphone in public is the absolute rudest thing a person can do with their phone according to a new global wide survey from Expedia.
Now I would have taken a photo or shot a video of this gentleman for everyone to see, but that also made the list.
Along with doing things like playing music or videos without headphones. Video chatting in public places. Letting your kids use your phone to play games or watch something while in public.
Then of course there's the person who has their ringer volume and alert tones cranked all the way up! Or better yet, how about the chucklehead who fails to turn off their cell phone during a movie, and then proceeds to text throughout the entire flick.
God I love blowing the whistle on those inconsiderate jackbags!
I have to say though, my absolute worst cell phone pet peeve has to be the proverbial "loud talker."
There is a little thing called volume control on every phone. You don't have to shout for the other person to hear you. Especially when having one of those crucial conversations, you know, like discussing the details of your proctology exam. That's a whole other cell phone conversation experience I had the honor of overhearing one time. And trust me, nobody should have to overhear that one!
Getting back to the Larry David remark I mentioned earlier, writing this story reminded me of the "low talker" Seinfeld episode. Remember that one?
Don't you think the low talker can be just as annoying as the loud talker? There's nothing like having a conversation with someone that leaves you feeling like you're in dire need of a Miracle Ear.
In case you missed that classic Seinfeld episode, here's a clip. Enjoy!
