The 15th Annual World’s Largest Truck Convoy rolls back into Sioux Falls on Friday (September 22) for a truly unique fundraising event for South Dakota Special Olympics.

The Truck Convoy is a celebration of the trucking industry and it's support of Special Olympics. It is also a very special collaboration between law enforcement members and area truckers for two days of events. Trucks start arriving at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds on Friday (September 22), there is also a Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament, a fantastic light show at dusk and food and beverages available for purchase from 5 to 8 p.m.

The big convoy (over 200 trucks will be participating this year) leaves the W. H. Lyon Fairgrounds at 10:15 Saturday morning, (September 23) and follows this route:

Exiting from the north side of Fairgrounds on Westport, heading North to 60th St. North, turning West on 60th St. N. to Marion Ave. Turn right (North) on Marion to I-90 E intersection. Take I-90 ramp heading East to I-229 South. South to I-29 North heading North to Madison St. exit turning right and heading back into the Fairgrounds.

There will be lunch available back at the fairgrounds at noon, the truck show is from 11:30 to 4:00 PM, auction at 12:45 PM, raffle at 3:00 PM and presentation of awards and trophies from 3:00 to 4:00 PM.

Every truck or trucking company participating in the convoy has paid $100 to enter and since 2004 this extraordinary event has raised over half-a-million dollars for South Dakota Special Olympics. These funds support over 2,100 South Dakota Special Olympians in their activities and allows them to continue training in over 26 sports programs throughout the year.
