Help Wanted ASAP! Sioux Falls Needs Snow Plow Drivers!
If you're looking to earn some extra money before the holidays or you love the snow, the City of Sioux Falls is looking to hire snow plow drivers for the winter.
It won't be long now before the cold winter enters the Sioux Empire, and the City of Sioux Falls wants to be prepared for the long snow days ahead. Especially after last winter...the snow wouldn't go away!
Dakota News Now is reporting that the Public Works Administration will be hosting a one-day hiring event on Tuesday, October 31st at their City Center location. They are hoping to bring more "snow fighters" to the team!
Street Manager of the Sioux Falls Public Works Administration Dustin Hasen explains to Dakota News Now that snow plow drivers are considered seasonal employees. Typically, the City of Sioux Falls likes to staff 25-30 seasonal employees with CDL licenses in case of major snow events. In the last ten years, the city has had anywhere between 12-15 seasonal employees.
As of right now, snow plow drivers in Sioux Falls are paid $20.60 an hour. However, Dustin Hasen tells Dakota News Now this wage will "likely go up in the next two weeks." That sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me!
Anyone with a Class A or Class B CDL can bring their license and their certifications to the hiring event for the Public Works Administration at the City Center location. It will begin at 9 AM and go until 3 PM. More information can be found here.
Driving snow plows can be a thankless job at times. So thank you to all the snow plow drivers for your hard work and dedication! We truly appreciate all that you do to keep our city streets clean during the harsh winter months!
