Veterans Day is Monday, November 11.

We want to thank all veterans who have served or are currently serving in our military.  To our brave Americans who have risen to the call of duty so we can enjoy our freedom and opportunity in this country...Thank You.

In honor of Veterans Day, several restaurants and businesses are offering discounts or a free meal.  The following is a list of Veterans Day discounts. Most companies require some form of military ID.  You may want to call ahead to verify locations, times, and participation or check the company’s website.

Applebee’s – choose a dinner from their special menu.

Texas Roadhouse – free lunch from 11a.m. to 2 p.m.

Olive Garden Veterans can choose a free entrée from a special menu, with breadsticks and unlimited soup or salad included.

Outback SteakhouseA free Bloomin’ Onion and beverage is being offered to active and retired military. Veterans can also receive 10% off the total check from November 12 – December 31, 2013.

Red Lobster – Free Appetizer on Veterans Day with military ID or proof of service. Vets may choose from a select list of appetizers.

Chili’s  Receive a free meal from eight menu options if you are a veteran or active military duty. Proof of service is required.

Denny’s All active, inactive and retired military personnel, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on November 11th and at all participating Denny’s restaurants nationwide, diners with a valid military ID will receive free all-you-can-eat pancakes.

Famous Dave’s BBQ – Famous Dave’s is providing a variety of free meals and discounts at participating locations to former and current military personnel on 11/11/2013. Offers vary by location.

Little Caesars - All United States armed forces veterans and active military members get a free order of Crazy Bread with proof of military status at participating stores nationwide this Veterans Day, 11/11/13.

Hy-Vee - Free breakfast to veterans during normal breakfast hours.  Choose from scrambled eggs, hash brown casserole, sausage, bacon, sausage gravy, biscuits, assorted pastries and coffee...and more!

FREE HAIRCUTS -  Military members  can go to ‘Great Clips’ on Veteran`s Day for a free haircut, or pick up a free haircut card to use by December 31st.  Bring proof of service.

EVENTS:

  • Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce Veterans Day Program - 10:30 a.m. at Lincoln High School.  Veterans will be recognized with an entertainment program and keynote address from Claude Hone, a WWII Corsair Pilot,  friend and associate of former fighter Ace and South Dakota Governor, Joe Foss.
  • American Legion Stew Feed - 12 p.m. at the American Legion.  Serving stew and cake for dessert.  Free will donation
  • VFW Veterans Day Banquet - 5:30 p.m. at 3601 S. Minnesota Ave.  Social hour at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m.   RSVP at 338-0869.
  • Burger King will be selling American flags for $1 through the month of November with all proceeds benefiting the VFW Unmet Needs Program.
