Former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson has passed away.

Jackson passed away in a car accident in Alabama last night (April 12) according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The 36-year-old former quarterback has most recently been working as the quarterback coach at Tennessee State.

Jackson was drafted by the Vikings in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft. He remained with the team through the 2010 season. During his time with the Vikings, Jackson started 20 games. He left Minnesota to join Seattle in 2011. After one year in Seattle, Jackson was traded to Buffalo for a conditional seventh-round pick. He then rejoined the Super Bowl-winning Seahawks in 2013 and stayed with the team until his career ended in 2015.

Following his NFL career, and a break from football to deal with a domestic violence incident, Jackson went back to Alabama State to join the coaching staff in 2018. After one season, Jackson then moved to Tennessee State.

Jackson threw for 7,263 yards, 39 touchdowns, and 35 interceptions during his NFL playing career.
