SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Law enforcement authorities in Sioux Falls are accusing the former director of a family visitation facility of taking over $40,000 from the organization.

Police Capt. Blaine Larson says 40-year-old Aaron Wimmer is facing an embezzlement charge stemming from an investigation into the finances of the Family Visitation Center in Sioux Falls.

The facility works to ensure the well-being of children caught in the middle of divorce, child abuse and other situations. Wimmer led it until August, when authorities began the investigation.

Larsen says the embezzling started in 2011, when Wimmer began to use the center's credit card for personal purchases.

Wimmer has been repaying the center. He is scheduled to appear in court next week. It wasn't immediately clear if he has an attorney who could comment in the charge.
