Dr. Ben Carson is making a stop in the Sioux Empire later this month.

Carson, former neurosurgeon, author, 2016 Republican presidential candidate, and the current U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary for the Trump administration, will be the keynote speaker at the 2020 South Dakota Federation of Republican Women Biennial Convention planned for Saturday (September 26) at the Sioux Falls Convention Center.

Dakota News Now is reporting that Carson is considered a pioneer in the neurosurgery field. To date, Dr. Carson is the only person to successfully perform the separation of conjoined twins, joined at the back of the head. He is also known for performing the first successful neurosurgical procedure on a fetus inside the womb, along with many other celebrated medical accomplishments.

Carson is also famous for being the youngest chief of pediatric neurosurgery in the United States. An accomplishment he achieved at the age of 33 while being the Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at the John Hopkins Children's Center in 1984.

He retired from medicine in 2013, three years prior to running for president.

Dr. Carson is scheduled to address the convention at 5 PM on (September 26).

Tickets for the event will range from $100.00 to $175.00 and available to be purchased in advance at EventBrite. Tickets may also be purchased with a check, or cash option, by emailing mlrwconvention@yahoo.com to request instructions.
