Denny Hamlin Wins Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway
And both a driver and a race team finally get into the win column. Denny Hamlin scored his first win of the season at New Hampshire. Hamlin led 54 laps including the most important lap of all, circuit number 301 where the checkered flag was displayed.
It marked the end of a dry spell for this driver. He was on a 28 race win-less skid since winning at Richmond in the fall of 2016.
Plus, it finally gives Joe Gibbs Racing a first Cup win this year. The team of the former Washington Redskins coach, had two cars in the top five finishers with Matt Kenseth fourth.
Plus, another driver on the team, Kyle Busch, led on two occasions for a total of 95 laps and taking the win in stage two of the race. But after two pit road speeding penalties, he was sent back, but still came in 12th.
Sunday's race marked another stellar performance by Kyle Larson. After being sent to the back of the field at the start of the race because of an illegal part found on his car, again he stormed all the way up to second place.
Martin Truex Jr. led the most laps at 137. But after losing a right front tire, he had to settle for third place.
Kevin Harvick rounded out the top five. See where your driver finished.
