Multi-platinum-selling country artist Clay Walker has released a brand new single, "Working on Me." Readers can press play above to hear a snippet of the song.
Following in the path of hits such as "She Won't Be Lonely Long" and "If I Could Make a Living," Walker's new single is a poignant, mid-tempo track backed by brooding guitar work that gradually builds to the chorus' simple-but-sweeping declaration of love.
"Like a second glass of wine / Slow and easy through my mind / You take hold of me like gravity," Walker sings in "Working on Me." "Like the full moon pulls the tide / I couldn't stop it if I tried / So keep doing what you're doing / It's working on me."
Walker has netted six No. 1 hit singles over the course of his career, which spans more than two decades. He enjoyed a string of platinum-selling albums in the '90s following the success of his self-titled debut album in 1994. The singer also formed Band Against MS in 2003, in order to raise awareness and provide educational resources for those living with multiple sclerosis, the same disease Walker has battled since 1996.
Just a couple of years into mainstream success, and with a new baby at home, Walker was told by his doctor that he would be in a wheelchair by the year 2000, and dead by 2004. Fortunately, that proved not to be the case: Not only is Walker still alive and mobile, but he has since gone on to release new music, rack up an impressive list of television cameos (on The Bachelor, Rachael Ray and Cutthroat Kitchen, to name just a few) and, most recently, perform the National Anthem prior to Game 5 of the 2017 World Series last October.
