Because of two South Dakota organizations, there will be more places to stop and fix your bike for free in Sioux Falls.

Last summer, my friend Deb and I excitedly hit the bike trail, winding our way from Pasley Park to downtown Sioux Falls.  About halfway through, Deb noticed one of her tires was losing air and we started to think of places to pull over to at least get it pumped up again. Thankfully the guys at Buck's muffler were only a block off the trail on Cliff avenue.  Under the watchful eye of Mr. Bendo, bike tires were topped up and we were ready to hit the trail again. (Thanks guys!)

Due to the generous donation from Ride Across South Dakota (RASDak) and the Bike Sioux Falls organizations, the city of Sioux Falls will be receiving two bike repair stations.

Once the new stations are installed later this year, there will be a total of three:

  • Elmen Station, 49th St at Big Sioux River, northeast of Sertoma Park (installed)
  • Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation Office,100 East Sixth Street (Spring 2017)
  • The Downtown Bus Stop (summer/fall 2017)

The bike repair stations include air pumps and provide tools for do it yourself repairs such as changing a flat tire or adjusting brakes.

An additional repair station is in the planning stages for Falls Park.

Sam Trebilcock, City of Sioux Falls Transportation Planner sees the repair stations as another benefit to residents:

The repair stations will provide Sioux Falls bicyclists with a great way to quickly make a few easy repairs to your bicycle when you are out and about bicycling in the community. We greatly thank RASDak and Bike Sioux Falls for their generous donations.
