A Sioux Falls man has been arrested in connection with an attempted rape in the area of the 700 Block of West 11th Street early Sunday morning.

"A woman heard some screaming coming from a garage. But, she was unable to open the garage door," according to Sioux Falls Police Department Public Information Officer Sam Clemens. "She found three guys that helped her open the garage. The victim came crawling out."

"It turns out the victim had gone to that spot with a friend. They met up with another guy. The friend left and locked the garage door behind him. Once that happened, the suspect told the victim to take off her clothes and threatened to kill her."

But, the victim did not comply.

"The suspect was trying to get her clothes off. She was fighting back and was able to yell for help. That's when she was able to escape. We were able to track down the friend and found the suspect later. He was arrested for attempted rape."

Clemens identified the suspect as 50-year-old Sergio Marroquin.

The victim didn't sustain any serious injuries.
