65-Year-Old Madison Man Dies in Weekend Mobile Home Fire

MADISON, S.D. (AP) — A weekend mobile home fire in Madison killed a 65-year-old man.

Lake County Coroner Ted Weiland tells The Daily Leader that Coy Burk died of smoke inhalation early Sunday.

Fire Chief Randy Minnaert says the blaze happened about 4:30 a.m. Burk's body was found in a bedroom. A dog also died in the fire.

Minnaert says fire damage was limited to an area around the home's natural-gas furnace, and the fire most likely originated from the furnace.
