2024 Downtown Sioux Falls Burger Battle: Flying Santo Taco Bar

January in Sioux Falls only means one thing...Burger Battle! This year's Downtown Sioux Falls Burger Battle is pretty intense. A record 37 savory burgers from local Sioux Falls restaurants are looking for your stomachs and votes.

When it comes to burgers, there definitely is one for everyone, especially in Sioux Falls! Sponsored by First Western Bank & Trust, the 11th annual Downtown Sioux Falls Burger Battle features burgers residents can sink their teeth into. It's hard to decide which of the 37 burgers to try. But someone has to do it! My fiancé and I were excited to try this next burger from the Flying Santo Taco Bar inside the Jones421 Building. The Flying Santo Taco Bar is also a new contender in the Downtown Sioux Falls Burger Battle, and is filled with steak and spice and everything nice!

The name of this burger is called the Flying Santo Steak Burger. According to a previous article from my co-worker Jeff Harkness, Flying Santo Steak Burger is a "hand-ground steak burger with a jalapeño-infused bun by Breadsmith with chipotle mayo. The patty is topped with 2 layers of pepperjack cheese, handmade guacamole and pickled pink onions. Rounding out the burger is a thick slice of beefsteak tomato and a layer of crisp cabbage. Served with crispy Mexican cartwheels tossed in lime and seasoned with Tajin."

Remember when I mentioned the "Beer Fed Beef Burger" from Remedy Brewing Company was potentially this year's burger to beat in a previous article? I now believe the Flying Santo Steak Burger is bringing the heat this year!

This burger is a handful, but you won't mind the mess after eating this steak burger. It's cooked to perfection. The pepperjack cheese, tomatoes, homemade guacamole, chipotle mayo, and even the pickled pink onions all complement each other very well on this burger. And the jalapeño-infused bun by Breadsmith...the chef's kiss! You can tell a lot of planning went into this creation. The Flying Santo Steak Burger perfectly blends locally sourced foods with authentic Mexican flavors.
