Why Fall is My Favorite Season
It's great to be back in the Midwest for a genuine fall season, after living in southern California for seven years. Sure, I came back to visit my family each year around this time, but it isn't the same as living here during autumn.
We've been lucky enough to have some pretty warm days lately, but the California 90 degrees in October was not my favorite thing. I missed "weather" variations so much, especially this time of year. Therefore, I thought I'd make a list of a few of my favorite parts of fall in South Dakota:
- 1
Football
If you listen to the morning show with Trav & Kelly you've heard me talk about my love of the Minnesota Vikings. Many times. I've been lucky enough to attend a few games this year in the new U.S. Bank Stadium and it has been amazing. Each fall I cannot wait for the return of football season!

The scenery
There are few things prettier than autumn colors and leaves on the ground. We are blessed to live in a climate where the leaves actually fall in fall! This is my first autumn back in South Dakota after living in Los Angeles for seven years. Our "fall" didn't hit until January and it was a rarity that you saw pretty fallen leaves in the city.

Fall fashion
Boots, scarves, big sweaters, hats and mittens. Since I'm on the radio I don't dress up every day, but when I do go out and do something, I love to pair together autumn outfits.

Warm beverages
Cozying up to the fire with a nice warm beverage is such a treat and so relaxing. It feels awesome to have some nice warm coffee, cocoa or tea, especially after coming in from being outside in the cool air. I'll have a caramel macchiato, please!

Halloween
Halloween is just pure fun, with so much to offer: costumes, candy and carving pumpkins. I think I like the creative aspect of it most. Yes, it's an excuse to go out and party as well, but I really enjoy putting a costume together. Each year I try to do something unique, making the whole thing or at least parts of it myself. Plus it's fun to see what others came up with each year, and see children's faces light up when they receive some candy.

Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is amazing. Yes the food is incredible, but I find it's one of the best holidays for family-time. Living in Los Angeles the past seven years, I was unable to come home for Thanksgiving. It was too close to Christmas and way too expensive to come for both. I am so grateful I will be here for the holiday this year to enjoy some awesome grub and great company. Bring on the pies!

Crisp, cool air
We are fortunate to live in South Dakota, where the air is free from smog and pollution. However, during fall, our fresh clean air is even better. Breathing in the cool breeze can be so refreshing and soothing. It's the little things.
