The Des Moines Police Department says the dog was found in a trash bag on Tuesday, December 10th with only its head sticking out. Officials have determined the dog in the trash bag is a male bulldog. This little sweetheart was abandoned on the side of the road in the Des Moines, Iowa area. Seriously?! Who would be so cruel to animals?!
Our news partners at Dakota News Now are reporting a man first found the dog on the side of the road. The Good Samaritan from Iowa thought the bag was moving, and to his surprise, he saw a helpless dog.
The dog was unable to walk because the bag was secured with tape.
When he was found, he weighed only about 23 pounds, according to the staff who are caring for him.
One notable feature of the dog is that his ears have been cropped, suggesting possible prior veterinary care.
A team of veterinary staff in Iowa is currently taking care of the dog. Slowly, the dog is recovering.
Whoever did this needs to be brought to justice.
If you recognize this dog, the Des Moines Police Department is encouraging anyone to call with information at (515)-248-6052. You may also submit an anonymous tip online to Crimestoppers of Central Iowa, or by using the “Submit A Tip” function on the DMPD Mobile App.
