Whimp’s Steakhouse in Burbank, South Dakota Celebrating 50 Years With a Week-Long Party
This summer, take a road trip to Burbank, South Dakota. Where is Burbank? It's a small town of 343 located between Vermillion and I-29 on Highway 50. Ask any University of South Dakota Coyote if they know where Burbank is and they'll tell you it's the home of Whimp's Steakhouse and all-you-can-eat-spaghetti. A popular feature among students because it's cheap, only $7.50 on Thursday nights starting at 4:00 PM. My sister, who graduated from USD in the 80's, remembers going to Whimp's for the spaghetti.
When I go to Whimp's, I usually have the chicken. It is so juicy and delicious. I opted for a baked potato on this trip, but you should know, the french fries are hand-cut. So good!
Your dinner comes with a homemade loaf of bread and butter. I've always been too shy to ask for grape jelly (the way I like to eat homemade bread), but I know they have it, because they're also open for breakfast and serve it until 5:00 PM.
Whimp's is known for their tasty tenderloin steaks. You get a ton of food and you won't break the bank.
Whimp's Steakhouse is turning 50 this year and they're having a celebration. June 12-18, 2017 they'll throw a week-long party with food and drink specials, a visit from the original "Whimp," employee reunion, bean bag tournanment, live music and an outdoor BBQ to benefit the local community. Check out their Facebook page for all the details.
