So when will Great Bear Ski Valley officially open for the season? Officials say this question has been at the top of the Sioux Empire's mind. The truth is, Great Bear Ski Valley officials explain they aren't sure when Opening Day will be. But there is some good news! Colder weather is coming to the Sioux Falls area, which is perfect for snowmaking magic!

A fun Facebook video shows a drone flying around the Sioux Falls Great Bear Ski Valley as the snow machines work overtime to create beautiful blankets of snow.

Our weather partners at Dakota News Now are up to date with the latest winter weather situations around the Sioux Empire. For the most part, the temperatures look like they will be steady sitting between the low 20s and high 30s. The overnight lows could see single-digit temperatures!

  • Monday: High of 20 and low of 8
  • Tuesday: High of 34 and low of 22
  • Wednesday: High of 38 and low of 8
  • Thursday: High of 18 and low of 8 (Possibility of scattered snow showers!)
  • Friday: High of 30 and low of 17
  • Saturday: High of 33 and low of 26
  • Sunday: High of 38 and low of 24 (Could see a rain/snow mix)
