What You Need to Know About Presidents Bowl 2016
Presidents Bowl is ready to take over Howard Wood Field this Labor Day weekend with two football games, football challenge, and cheer clinic.
Pre-Game Events
The 25th edition of Presidents Bowl will feature a couple of events prior to the kickoff. A cheer clinic and football challenge will take place on Saturday, September 3rd from 10 A.M.-Noon. The cheer camp is open to boys and girls in grades kindergarten-5th grade. Participants of the camp will perform that night at Presidents Bowl. Kids in grades kindergarten-6th grade are also able to participate in the football challenge. The challenge will test the skills in the 40-yard dash, passing distance/accuracy, kicking off the tee, timed shuffle drill, and broad jump.
Registration for both the cheer clinic and football challenge has closed, but for the potential opportunity for a late registration use the contact page on the Presidents Bowl website.
Football games
Two football games will be played at Howard Wood Field on Saturday, September 3rd. All four Sioux Falls schools will play their second game of the season, and all four enter Saturday with a 1-0 record. Roosevelt and O'Gorman will meet in the first contest beginning at 3:30. Defending champions Washington and their rival Lincoln will kick off at approximately 7:00. As a Presidents Bowl tradition, fireworks will be displayed at halftime of the Washington/Lincoln game.
Parking
Parking remains the same for the most part around Howard Wood Field. With construction to the locker rooms taking place, some areas of the parking lot will be blocked off.
The west side directly next to Howard Wood Field will have an area blocked off for the bands. On the east side, a small section of the parking lot is blocked for members of the media. Passes must be shown to enter those areas. The limited spots that are located on the far north side of Howard Wood Field are fully blocked off due to construction.
Otherwise parking will be as normal near Howard Wood Field, Denny Sanford PREMIER Center, Sioux Falls Stadium, and McCart Park.
Tips
Arrive early - This is one of the most popular events of the year and the best bet for parking will be to arrive pretty early. Tailgating is popular for each school so spots can even at times become limited.
Home/Away - Roosevelt and Washington will be the home teams for their games. Fans of Roosevelt and Washington will take the bleachers on the southwest side (press box side) of Howard Wood Field. O'Gorman and Lincoln fans will take the northeast side bleachers.
Tickets - Activity passes are NOT accepted for admission into Presidents Bowl. Admission is $8.
Carrie Underwood - No, this isn't just a random entry. You have the chance to win tickets to see Carrie Underwood at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. How? Presidents Bowl will randomly draw someone that follows them on Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram. You must follow them by September 3rd to be entered.
