It's not uncommon for South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa police officers to ask the public for help finding crime suspects. However, police in Sioux City, Iowa need help finding an unusual item. It's a chicken statue.

The Sioux City Police Department is looking for a chicken statue that was stolen just before the New Year holiday. This is no "yolk."

The Sioux City Police Department posted a video on its Facebook page of a thief stealing a chicken statue. The suspect's entire face is converted.

This is a big chicken statue that was stolen and the Sioux City Police Department is taking this crime very seriously.

We are looking for a big chicken statue that was stolen from the 300 block of W 26th Street on Sunday December 29, 2024. At about 5:30 pm, the suspect cut the chicken off of its pedestal. The metal chicken statue stands about 4 feet tall.

The criminal in question is described as a male who is "average height" with an "average build." He really wanted this chicken statue!

Some residents are upset about how the Sioux City Police Department is prioritizing this crime. But no matter how silly this sounds, a crime was committed. If anyone knows the whereabouts of the suspect or chicken statue, they are encouraged to call the Siouxland Crime Stoppers at 712-258-TIPS (8477) or go to www.siouxcitypolice.com/crimestoppers to leave a tip. If your tip is helpful and leads to an arrest, there could be a cash reward for you.
