We Had Great Vacation at Brainerd, Minnesota

Everybody I've talked to is asking the same question. Where did the Summer go? It went by awful fast this year!

Before it completely slipped away, I loaded up wife and son and packed the family truckster, and headed out on a vacation.

And I mean we loaded the vehicle! Even though I have an SUV, it still took the cargo container on top to get it all in.

For this trip we needed clothes for a week, fishing equipment, golfing equipment, a grill and a whole bunch of other stuff.

We went on a week long get away to Brainerd, Minnesota. We stayed at a fabulous resort called Cragun's located on huge Gull Lake.

We rented a 19 foot Lund fishing boat all decked out for fishing. And we caught a lot of fish. We kept 24 and released at least 40.

After three days on the lake and an outstanding fish fry, it was time to put the rods and reels away and get out the golf clubs. My son and I played two times on the beautiful coarse at the resort.

I mentioned taking a grill along. At Cragun's we had what's called a shoreline suite. It includes a complete kitchen and outdoor grilling area.

Besides cooking a lot of good food, we had plenty of beverages!

Then after all of this, the fun was capped off with three days at a national drag racing event. We attended the NHRA Lucas Oil Nationals at Brainerd International Raceway. We enjoy Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stock.
