February 3, 1959. The Day The Music Died.

The music world was rocked on that day as Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper and Richie Valens were killed in a plane crash outside Clear Lake, Iowa. It was Don McLean who made that phrase, 'The Day The Music Died', famous in his legendary hit 'American Pie'.

A big part of that story involved one of country music's biggest legend's, Hall of Famer Waylon Jennings. Waylon was there that night, on stage with Buddy Holly. But as with many things, the story of exactly what happened can change through the years and fact can become all mixed up with fiction.

How did Waylon Jennings know Buddy Holly? Was Waylon a member of the Crickets? Did Waylon really give up his seat on that plane? And if he did, who got that seat? And why?

To answers those questions and set the record straight, we go to the man himself. In this classic video, Waylon talks about his friend Buddy Holly and that cold, snowy fateful night in Iowa.
