The Great Plains Zoo staff are thrilled to celebrate these gorgeous big cats. Along with the meerkats, Simba and Amahle are inside the new state-of-the-art habitats at the size. This is one of the largest habitat spaces in North America. Sioux Empire visitors have year-round opportunities to see the lions and meerkats in indoor and outdoor public settings.

My husband and I had the pleasure of meeting Simba and Amahle last week; they are amazing. They were active and getting to know their new Sioux Falls home. We even heard their mighty roars!

Take a peek and say hello to Simab and Amahle!

Amahle is so majestic. She is a 10-year-old lion who is originally from the iconic Smithsonian's National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute in Washington D.C.

Amahle wanted us to hear what she had to say. I caught her roar just in time!

After a well-deserved nap, Simba decided to explore his home and say hello to his visitors.

Simba has a powerful roar! He lets his presence be known and heard! Just a magnificent animal!

Sounds like Simba and Amahle are still getting to know each other. Friendship and love take time! They will reunite when the time is right!

I can't wait to visit Simba and Amahle again at the Great Plains Zoo!

9 Sioux Falls Streets Visitors Have A Hard Time Pronouncing

If you are visiting or new to Sioux Falls and trying to find your way around, chances are you really don't need to pronounce street names correctly. All you have to do is enter your destination into Google Maps and your phone will show you the way.

But what if you are trying to tell someone where your cool friend or family member lives in our fine city? Some of our streets and avenues have tricky spellings that may throw visitors for a loop when trying to sound them out.

No one is going to mess up on the big thoroughfares like Minnesota Avenue, Western Avenue, or Louise Avenue but what about these?
