The kids are all having fun with a break from school for the holidays. Now that the excitement of opening presents is over, it's time to plan out some fun before vacation is over and it becomes time to head back to school.

One place to consider, is a wonderful place for kids to visit in Sioux Falls. The Washington Pavilion has an active schedule of events for families to enjoy during holiday break. The Kirby Science Discovery Center (KSDC) and the Visual Arts Center (VAC) offer a variety of activities from movies to science to art.

On the KSDC third floor, the temporary science exhibition, Grossology: The (Impolite) Science of the Human Body!, fascinates children and adults alike until January 5. In the Everist Gallery of the VAC, see Dale Lamphere’s exhibition, Arc of Dreams: The Journey before it departs on December 30.

Visitors to the museums will also enjoy programs and activities like Avera Stage Science demonstrations, Afternoon Art in the Raven Children’s Studio, workshops in the Jacks Imagination Lab and more.

On Tuesday, December 31 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, celebrate New Year’s Eve early with Mindful Movements with Sanford Health in the fit Zone fueled by Sanford Health plus a balloon drop, art activities and a Radley Rex Meet and Greet.

The Wells Fargo CineDome features Volcanoes: The Fires of Creation and Back from the Brink: Saved from Extinction plus the popular holiday movie, The Polar Express, will be showing through December 31. Patrons can enjoy a special treat with the movie; cocoa and cookies are available to purchase at the concessions counter.
