Small Town Viborg, South Dakota Bar Closing Down This Spring

It's always sad to see local South Dakota businesses close, especially in small towns.

The Viborg Bar in Viborg, South Dakota, made the shocking announcement over the weekend that the bar will be shutting down later this spring.

Located at 205 North Commercial Street, the Viborg Bar had only been open for a little over two years. But "after a lot of late nights, tough conversations, and even tougher decisions," owners of the Viborg Bar made the difficult decision to close in May.

Officials of the Viborg Bar shared the devastating news in a Facebook post on Sunday night.

This place has been more than just a bar to us for the last 2 years. It’s been a home away from home, a place to get away and release the stress of the day. It’s been a place full of memories and many late nights of laughter and drunken shenanigans. To everyone who’s ever grabbed a drink with us, worked a shift, stayed too late, laughed too loud, or made this place what it is… thank you. Seriously. You’ve made this place more than we could have ever expected it to be.

Needless to say, residents are sad to see the local bar close.
