Unbelievable: Sioux Falls Has More Snow Than This Chilly City
It has been a very active winter throughout South Dakota. It feels like we have been experiencing major snowstorms every month, especially in Sioux Falls.
If you think we have been getting a lot of snow this winter, you're correct! The weather experts at the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls recently shared some shocking snow totals in the Sioux Empire.
The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls informed weather enthusiasts about a fun Sioux Falls winter fact. After the recent blizzard, the Sioux Falls area officially has had more snow this winter than...Juneau, Alaska!
According to the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, the Sioux Falls area has recorded 56.4" this year and Juneau has seen 46.6." Wow!
So when can we expect more snow in the Sioux Empire? Our friends at Dakota News Now have that answer. Morning Meteorologist Aaron Doudna gives us an idea of when we can expect snow. The good news? The snowfall is going to be pretty light.
"Our next chance for light snow arrives Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday. Minor accumulations of 1-3″ look possible at this time with the best chances across northern South Dakota. Wind gusts will be around 30 mph so we could have a little blowing snow. Stay tuned for updates to the forecast! Highs Tuesday will be in the 20s and 30s."
"Looking ahead to the rest of the week, we’ll see temperatures dip down into the teens and 20s for highs by Thursday. Friday will be slightly warmer with the upper 20s and low 30s returning for most. By the weekend, highs will be back in the low to mid-30s."
