According to stltoday.com, Since 2009, the national high school graduation rate has climbed from 75 percent to a record high of 83.2 percent in the 2014-15 school year.

With that being said, using public school data from EDFacts, StartClass found the city in each state with the highest high school graduation rate in the 2014-15 school year (the most recent year available).

Not to anyone's surprise, but small towns dominated the rankings and Yankton came in as the town with the highest graduation rate in the state. A town with about 14,000 people Yankton's graduation rate is at 97.6%.

Gretna, Nebraska was #1 in their state with a graduation rate of 95.9%. Grant, Minnesota was 98.9%, Valley City, North Dakota was 94%, and Epworth, Iowa was at 98.6%.
