With the recent news of Iowa having the second highest cancer rate in the country, residents of the Hawkeye State are on edge, wondering exactly which counties have the highest rates, and more importantly, why that's the case.

Here are the five Iowa counties with the highest (per capita) cancer rates in the entire state.

As you can see, these counties are all over the Iowa map. They're mostly rural counties, but that's about all they have in common with each other. Ida County stands above the rest, with nearly 231 out of 100,000 residents impacted by cancer.
