South Dakota Officials On The Move Searching For Missing Man
The South Dakota Attorney General's Office and local authorities are asking for the public's help in finding a missing man.
39-year-old Curtis James of Blunt, South Dakota, has not been seen since last Wednesday, March 5th. There's now a statewide search underway to find Curtis James

Concerned South Dakota residents have been sharing Curtis's picture and any updated information. He was last seen wearing a gray coat, a black hoodie, and black sweatpants. Curtis James's family and loved ones are concerned for his well-being and want to know he's safe.
Curtis is around 5'9" and weighs about 145 pounds. Police from the Hughes County Sheriff's Office and officials with Hughes County Emergency Management took time last Friday, March 7th, to search Curtis James's home. Unfortunately, search teams did not find Curtis. But they did find his cell phone.
Here are the search details:
Curtis James was last heard from around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2025. Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a search of his home in Blunt early Friday, March 7, 2025.
Deputies found his cell phone and other personal effects inside the home. There was no sign of any wrongdoing.
A search of the area did not locate James. Sheriff’s Deputies brought in a drone from Hughes County Emergency Management and were aided in the ground search Friday by teams from the Blunt Volunteer Fire Department.
A new story from our partners at Dakota News Now says there were more than 70 volunteers on Saturday, March 8th, searching for Curtis. They had no luck.
Any South Dakota resident with leads or information about Curtis's whereabouts is highly encouraged to contact the Hughes County Sheriff's Office non-emergency number at 605-773-7470.
You never know what other people are going through. Let's hope Curtis is found safe and returns home soon.
