GoFundMe Page Set Up To Help South Dakota Man Detained By ICE
A Yankton, South Dakota, family is waiting for a father and husband to hopefully return home.
New parents Nate and Sydney Samudzi went on a trip to celebrate the birth of their first child when Nate was detained by ICE while deboarding a plane in St. Louis.

Nate has been in custody since Thursday, February 12th. This was meant to be a trip to start their new journey as parents together. Nate's wife, Sydney, has been sharing their story and updates to the Sioux Empire through Facebook posts and messages. The post has been shared over 3,000 times.
This has been a scary time for Sydney and her family. Being in America is the only life Nate has ever known.
We started his path to citizenship almost 4 years ago and his case is complicated to say the least. Nate has been in the United state since he was 4 years old. He knows no other life, language or community. During this entire process we have been working with an attorney and doing everything the “right way”.
As many of you know we had our first child 6 months ago and have established our family in Yankton, SD where we have developed our own community the last 5 years. We have created a community that has become our extended family.
Without getting into too many details this has been a traumatic and horrible situation and experience. While we remain hopeful there are still many hurdles that we may have to overcome to get Nate released and continue his path to citizenship and most importantly home to us, his family.
To help with potential costs and to relieve some stress, the family has made a GoFundMe page. Sydney Samudzi's world for her young family is "completely shattered." You can learn more about their efforts by clicking here.
There are peaks and valleys in life. But what always stands tall is family. And the power of family is staying strong for Nate Samudzi.
