South Dakota Has One of the Nations Strangest Foods

All across this country you can find some unusual foods. Recently, Thrillist put out a list entitled ‘Most Ridiculous Official State Foods’ and South Dakota's official state dessert, made the list.

Kuchen is typically made with a sweet dough and contains a fruit or custard filling and is delicious.

The website states that German settlers introduced the tasty treat to the people of South Dakota back in the 1870's calling this curiously doughy cake-like creation "kuchen" -- which is just German for "cake."

Other ridiculous state foods, according to Thrillist include the chokecherry in North Dakota, Kool-Aid in Nebraska, and Kringle in Wisconsin.
