Royal Visit: Prince Harry Meets South Dakota Firefighters In California

The Duke of Sussex has been living in California since the ongoing riff within his family. But now and again, Prince Harry does make appearances on television and in private settings meeting with various organizations he's been passionate about.

Earlier this week, officials with the South Dakota Department of Public Safety captured the moment when Prince Harry met with South Dakota firefighters to thank them for their service during these tragic wildfires in Southern California.

Duke Of Sussex Meets Local Heroes: South Dakota Firefighters In California

This was truly a surprise and private visit from Prince Harry.

Prince Harry stopped and thanked SD firefighters in S. California Monday afternoon, asking questions and chatting with the SD firefighters with no media in sight. He also talked with CalFire personnel. SD firefighters were staged with CalFire in preparation for initial attack on any potential new starts.

South Dakota fire crews from Whispering Pines, Black Hawk, and Fireburn have been part of a task force assisting with current and new wildfire outbreaks in Southern California. Many South Dakota firefighters on the ground are volunteers as well.

What an incredible meeting! To be honest, I'm jealous they had this remarkable opportunity to meet with Prince Harry. I read his book, and I would just have so many questions.

Thank you to the brave South Dakota men and women who are fighting off major fires in Southern California. Your efforts and hard work are making South Dakota proud!
