South Dakota Board of Regents Executive Director Search

The South Dakota Board of Regents is inviting nominations and applications for the position of executive director and chief executive officer of the board.

In a release issued this week's board, President John W. Bastian said the regents seek a dynamic leader to build upon a sound statewide academic tradition, supporting the higher education needs of more than 34,000 students and 5,000 employees.

“The executive director and CEO will be a strong advocate for the system of public higher education and the special schools, and collaborate with private industry and statewide political leaders to advance the system’s goal of preparing the workforce for the state of South Dakota,” Bastian said.

The South Dakota Board of Regents is the constitutional governing body for the state’s six public universities that include Black Hills State University, Dakota State University, Northern State University, South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, South Dakota State University, University of South Dakota and two special schools, South Dakota School for the Blind & Visually Impaired and South Dakota School for the Deaf.

The next executive director will succeed Paul B. Beran who announced his departure last month.

Application materials are being accepted until May 27.
