Going to the extreme. Pushing the limits. Achieving the impossible. These are the undeniable traits of a parent with a sick child - and Sioux Falls mom Jessica Brovold will prove it.

She has earned a spot in the prestigious Boston Marathon as one of only two charity runners. Brovold will represent Home Away Boston, a place where the family stayed when when their daughter, Kallie, was receiving treatments for a brain tumor.

The amazing part of this story is that Jessica only recently took up running while training in the harsh South Dakota conditions.

With training time dwindling, Jessica told KDLT News that training for the punishing 26-mile run has been difficult but it doesn't compare to the emotional marathon she's been running since her daughter was diagnosed in 2013.

I remember when I told my husband 'I'm going to run a marathon,' and he kind of looked at me like you're kidding, there's no way you're going to run a marathon." - Jessica Brovold

Jessica's motivation comes solely from thoughts of her daughter and other kids who are going through similar trials.

When I'm running and I'm so tired and my body hurts I just think of her and I think of all the other kids who are going through this."

Brovold has set a goal of raising $10,000 for Home Away Boston. Donate here to help Jessica reach the finish line.
