Gene Hetland of KSOO-AM provided the following updated report:

A Roosevelt High School student will be returned home after she was located in southeastern Minnesota, ten days after she was reported missing.

Sioux Falls Police Officer Sam Clemens says Faith McShane was found this week in Zumbrota, Minnesota with a distant relative:

Clemens says any charges would be handled in juvenile court.

Faith McShane had been reported missing on January 5th, the day she was dropped off at school but then disappeared.

Police say officers in Red Wing, Minnesota were instrumental in locating McShane, and Clemens says she had planned well in advance to run away. He says she took several steps to evade police, and he says others could face criminal charges for their involvement.

Faith McShane, 15, was dropped off at Roosevelt High School Monday morning, January 5, but never made it to class.

She put her jacket in her locker and security cameras outside the school have her leaving wearing only a black hoodie and jeans.

This is the first time she has done anything like this and her mother is frantic to find her daughter.

Faith is 5'6", 140 pounds with hazel eyes and sandy blonde hair.

Her mom said she left a note saying 'sorry but I have to do this' and had a memorial shrine under her bed of a student that committed suicide last year.

At approximately 6:00 PM on Tuesday, January 6 Faith was observed in the area of 13th St. and Duluth Ave. She was seen getting into a silver Honda passenger car with unknown South Dakota plates.

At the time the vehicle was being driven by a white male who in his mid 30's. He was also described as being approximately 6'3" with dark hair and a goatee.

On Wednesday (January 7) the family got reports of her at both Mercatos and Walmart on S. Louise Avenue. The family is attempting to get surveillance video of the male to distribute to police.

Police report that McShane is "actively avoiding police". They say they are confident that she is a runaway and that it is not an abduction. She has been changing her social media profiles while on the run.

In 2014 alone, the Sioux Falls Police Department investigated nearly 1400 runaway cases.
