Sioux Falls Man No Longer Craves Cocaine, Heroin
Pastor Jeff Hayes of Faith Temple Church told me about a Sioux Falls man who lived for years addicted to a number of drugs including meth, cocaine and heroin. His name is Ken and here is his life changing story:
"It was pretty bad in Texas. I worked for a big construction company. You could get anything you wanted on the job. Yes you could get involved pretty bad. My addiction started with alcohol and marijuana and progressed to cocaine and heroin. At one time, we were stranded on the streets of Houston, Texas. It got so bad we were living on the streets using drugs. Wasn't nothing to be proud of."
So, how did Ken survive on the streets of Houston?
"Mostly I panhandled, begged and met other junkies that needed a fix. We hooked up with them. We all got together and did a little stealing and stuff like that. A lot of pawning stolen stuff. Eventually, I spent some time in jail."
But and this is the good news: Ken overcame the drug addiction fueled by the power of Faith.
"There's no drugs, no alcohol - God took everything away from us. He just took the desire away. We don't do any of that anymore. I am clean and sober now. I haven't had any relapses. Today my life is 100 percent better."
Now that's he is free of the addiction, Ken offers this advice to others that are hooked on drugs and alcohol.
"You got to get yourself sane again because the drugs make you insane to where you can't help yourself. You have to go somewhere away from the drugs. Give your mind and body time to recuperate. Of course, get spiritual. You need to get God in your life if you can. That's probably the only way you're going to do it. Let your body and mind be changed by the Holy Spirit. That's what happened to me."
If he can recover from years of substance abuse, the Sioux Falls man is convinced there is hope for others.
