The holidays are a special time of the year to gather with loved ones. More importantly, the holidays serve as a good reminder to be thankful for all of the blessings we have in our lives.

Unfortunately, there are members in the Sioux Falls community who have not been so lucky in life. That's why it's so important to help those in need to brighten their spirits. One organization that is looking for some extra help and sugar this Thanksgiving is the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House.

The mission at the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House is simple:

TO FULFILL THE GOSPEL CALL TO LOVE OUR NEIGHBORS AS OURSELVES BY RECOGNIZING THE GOD-GIVEN DIGNITY OF EACH PERSON AND PROVIDING ESSENTIAL LIFE SERVICES TO THOSE IN NEED.

The Bishop Dudley Hospitality House in Sioux Falls opens its doors as a place of safety, wellness, community, and dignity for anyone experiencing homelessness. The staff at the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House is there for anyone who needs a fresh start in life.

The Bishop Dudley Hospitality House would not be the great organization that it is without donations and volunteers. In 2022, the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House helped over 1,500 people in the Sioux Falls community, provided 19,000 showers, cleaned over 4,000 loads of laundry, and served 33,300 lunches.

This Thanksgiving holiday, the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House staff wants to provide its guests with a special meal. But they need your help, especially if you're a baker in the Sioux Empire!

In a Facebook post, the staff at the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House are looking for all sorts of delicious desserts for its guests to enjoy with their special Thanksgiving meal. They are looking for any sweet treats like bars, cupcakes, cookies, brownies, cheesecakes, candies, or whatever sweet dessert you can provide!

People are encouraged to drop off fresh desserts before Thanksgiving at the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House. You can always call 605-809-8424 if you have any questions about how to send over your delicious treat! If you're not the best baker, they are always looking for items. It has been a true honor and privilege of mine to serve as a volunteer and an advocate for the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House. They do amazing work in the community. The guests at the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House will appreciate your desserts so much!

Sioux Falls: Then and Now

The City of Sioux Falls has changed dramatically over the past several years. Some of the streets, landscapes, and neighborhoods look vastly different than just 10-15 years ago.

Here's a look at Sioux Falls, then-and-now. See if you can recognize some of these old buildings, businesses, and city streets.
