Loving Sioux Falls Dog Waits Over 800 Days For His 1st Ever Home
Some dogs dream of being back in a home surrounded by cuddles and endless treats. But one South Dakota pup has yet to know what a home feels like.
Say hello to Mickey. He is only a year and a half old, but the only life Mickey has known is life in a shelter. It's hard to believe.

Since Mickey was a puppy, he has been in various rescues in the Sioux Empire. In total, Mickey has been waiting for his first "fur-ever" home for 816 days. He's currently with the local Almost Home Canine Rescue in Sioux Falls.
Almost Home Canine Rescue shared Mickey's story in a touching Facebook post. This sweet pup is playful, smart, and full of energy. It might take some time for Mickey to warm up to new people and dogs. However, he will love you right away when he gets to know you
Long walks down gravel roads, exploring nature areas, playing fetch, and leash walks in town are all right up his alley. He’s a big boy who sometimes forgets his size, so he’d do best with dog-savvy or older kids.Mickey does need slow introductions with new people and other dogs, but once he’s comfortable, he’s all love . He’s a total cuddle bug who enjoys curling up for a good nap after a busy day. He’s kennel trained, house trained, and a huge fan of chew bones and treats
You can tell that Mickey is one of the many good boys at Almost Home Canine Rescue.
816 days is far too long for any animal to wait. If I could, I would adopt Mickey in a heartbeat. Who wouldn't take home this cute face?
Mickey is currently with a foster family in Adrian, Minnesota. You can learn more about this special dog and how to adopt him here.
Let's help give Mickey what he's always wanted: A family to call his own.
