Roadside Eats: White Lake Cafe
Recently on my mini-vacation to The Black Hills, we decided to stop for gas and food somewhere a little off of the beaten path.
We got off the interstate at White Lake. Ya, I had never heard of it either. But, there was the cutest little restaurant there so we decided to try it.
The White Lake Cafe was a quaint establishment. When we walked in there was only one other customer there. The waitress called him by name. They asked immediately where we were headed. In a town, that size everybody is a regular and they didn't recognize us.
I debated between one of their broasted chicken meals or the White Lake Burger. I ultimately ordered the White Lake Burger. It was a good-sized burger served on a pretzel bun with an egg and three slices of cheese with my choice of side. I was on vacation so obviously I went all in and got waffle fries.
They asked my preference for how my egg and burger were cooked and it was messy and delicious!
Plus, the staff was so nice! If you're driving that way, maybe stop in and try it out. I know it's not super conveniently located right off the interstate and there isn't a jackalope to ride, but there is some darn good food!
